I laugh when I think about what motivated me to eat clean and organic. And honestly, I still work hard at it and fail most days.

So let me tell you what got me started. When I first met my husband, Jake… he was a single man doing well for himself, working hard, working out and ONLY eating clean and organic. Let me tell you… his grocery bills were crazy high and being a single mom at the time… the idea of having to cook dinner for him was super overwhelming. Not to mention what I would tell my parents when he insisted he had to have organic, free range, no hormone chicken.

As time moved on, I adapted to these principles and started to look into things myself. I already knew this was a must for our family but I had to figure out the items that were most important to buy organic and how I could spend less at the grocery store.

This is what I discovered:

1. The dirty dozen and/ or clean 15 : this is on the EWG website; https://www.ewg.org/foodnews/summary.php

2. Connect / join groups that share ideas on how to cook whole organic food on a budget! The ideas are endless!

3. Coupons! Go to the website for the organic companies and print coupons!!!

4. Kroger and ALDIs !!! They are super amazing at availability, options and price of organic food and produce!

5. Meal plan! This is my biggest factor! When you purchase organic food… you don’t want to let anything go bad! Plan your meals ahead of time!!
